Aesme Studio Floral Demonstration and Lunch

£100.00

Saturday 13th September 2025, 12-3pm

I am very, VERY excited to welcome sisters Ally and Jess of Aesme Studio back to Sciennes Road for a big celebration of food and flowers this September.

Our plan for the session…

Whilst I prepare a 3-course seasonal lunch, you’ll relax with a glass of something delicious as Ally gives you a talk and demonstration on naturalistic floral design, using flowers, fruits and vegetables from the walled garden of Pyrus Botanicals in East Lothian.

Ally will share her method for creating an asymmetric arrangement straight from the garden that evokes the dishevelled, fruity beauty of early autumn. So as well as me taking you step by step through my menu you’ll have plenty of time to chat and ask questions to Jess and Ally on their incredible work.

A little about Aesme...

"We are a creative studio specialising in strictly seasonal flower arrangement. Based in London, we're sisters (Jess and Ally) growing all of our produce at an organic cutting garden in Hampshire, providing the studio with an ever-changing array of produce, from rambling rose briars to culinary herbs, vegetables, fruiting branches and interesting flowering perennials. Our ultimate goal is to highlight and showcase the beauty of natural materials that are commonly overlooked or dismissed in traditional floristry - weeds, seedpods, fruits - and to curate them in a way that celebrates place and season, and evokes the atmosphere of the natural landscape and that specific moment in the year. Our latest project, Flowers on Film, is a membership platform providing weekly content on garden-to-vase flower arranging, featuring documentary-style films about the plants, places and people we meet on our travels. Jess is a photographer, film-maker and gardener. Her self-confessed role as a grower is to 'feed' her sister's insatiable appetite for flowers, and she's a prolific content creator, too. Ally is a floral designer and writer whose obsession is hunting down interesting plant varieties and stories, and trying to sell enough flowers to pay for her sister's expensive camera habit. Our first book 'Naturalistic Flowers' will be published by Thames & Hudson in spring 2026."

*Please note, Jess (Aesme Jess) will be making a documentary for Flowers on Film about the work of Fiona Inglis at Pyrus Botanicals and Jess Dennison at Elliott's so please note that she will be in the background capturing Ally's demonstration and moments from the day. If you'd prefer not to be filmed please just let us know in advance and we will ensure you do not appear. Many thanks!

Ticket includes: Welcome snack and drink, seasonal main and pudding, drinks on the table, naturalistic floral demonstration.

Please note:

Session runs 12-3pm, duration 3 hours

Location: Elliott’s Studio, 21 Sciennes Road, Edinburgh, EH9 1NX

The lunch menu will be vegetarian. Contact me if you have any dietary requirements before booking and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
